Our Goal: $12000
Currently: $12400

Updated: 22/10/2008
We created Kraftworks as a way to bring funds into Children's Ministry. While Kraftworks serves many different purposes our primary goal remains the funding of Children's Ministry and programs that support children. What about lunch time?

The Big Question:

What does it cost to send my child to Kraftworks?

It costs $35 per child to attend a session at Kraftworks.

It costs $75 per child to attend Kraftworks all day.

Here is the complete breakdown:

  • 9:00 - 12:00 Morning Session $35
  • 12:00 - 1:00 Lunch Time $5
  • 1:00 - 4:00 Afternoon Session $35

If you have more than one child on your Registration Form and they are booked in for a full day at Kraftworks then:

  • If you have two children booked in for the day then the daily rate drops to $70 for each child.
  • If you have more than two children booked in for the day then the daily rate drops to $65 for each child.

The children do not have to be from the same family (so participants can bring a friend and both receive the discount) but they do have to be on the same Registration Form.

So what exactly is Kraftworks?

  • For young teens (13 - 14) Kraftworks provides an opportunity to learn new, practical skills. We have Jewellery Making where participants can learn how to make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. We have an Airbrush Art Workshop where students can learn how to set up, maintain, and use our airbrush equipment. Of course young teens are also welcome to try any of the Kraftworks activities such as Scale Modelling, Plasterkraft, Figurine Painting, and Stitchery.

  • For tweens (9 - 12) we have literally hundreds of kits available. We have Figurine Painting, Scale Modelling, Plasterkraft,  and Stitchery. Fun activities that encourage patience, persistence, and practical skills.

  • For parents our program runs from 9:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the evening. You can pick the kids up and get home before the evening peak hour traffic begins. If you need to drop the kids off early (8:30) or pick them up late (up to 5:30) then that can be done by prior arrangement (a surcharge applies). We also offer discounts for families.

What is there to do at Kraftworks?

There is heaps to do at Kraftworks!

This website contains details on all of the activities that we offer here at Kraftworks. Most of our activities are kit-based. We have literally hundreds of kits available! Our complete 2008 Kraftworks Catalogue can be downloaded and viewed at your leisure. It contains a list of every kit available plus details on each of the activities.

All of our kits are rated by the number of Sessions we expect it to take for a typical child with adult supervision to complete the kit. Our kit ratings range from 1 to 10+. We run two sessions per day - Morning and Afternoon.

All the activities we offer are available every day.

Are there any additional expenses?

Included in the cost  of each Session is a kit. The kits are rated by the number of sessions it takes to complete the kit. The bigger the kit the more complicated it is and therefore the more time consuming it is to build. During the registration process the child selects the kit that they want to build. If parents agree then children may select a kit that takes longer to build than the number of sessions they are booked in to attend Kraftworks. If they do so then a surcharge applies of $5 per extra session.

For example, Lucy is booked in for all day Monday, all day Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon. That's five Sessions. She is simply desperate to build the 1/600 scale model of the Titanic. That's a seven session kit.  Lucy is two sessions short which makes the surcharge $10.

How do I pay for my booking?

We do not have EFTPOS or Credit Card facilities. If you wish to pay electronically then we can accept payment through Paypal. You can pay by cash or cheque on the day.

Where is Kraftworks run?

We run the Kraftworks program  in the BCKids room at the rear of Bayside Church in Cheltenham.

Where is Bayside Church?

Bayside Church is located at  99 - 101 Argus Street in Cheltenham, just off Warrigal Road near Centre Dandenong Road.

What are the Hours of Operation?

Each day there are two sessions. The morning session runs between 9:00 and 12:00 while the afternoon session runs between 1:00 and 4:00. Children must be dropped off within 15 minutes of the session start time and picked up within 15 minutes of the session end time.

Can I drop off my kids off early and/or pick them up late?

Children may be dropped off before 8:45 in the morning and picked up after 4:15 in the afternoon by prior arrangement.

Before the morning session starts we set up the day's activities and prepare for registration. After the afternoon session completes we clean up. If a child is with us during this time then they may watch a DVD. They may not sit at the tables nor work on their kits.

 What about lunch time?

Lunch time is between 12:00 and 1:00 pm.

During lunch time the leaders take half an hour off. Two leaders have their lunch between 12:00 and 12:30 pm while the other two leaders have their lunch between 12:30 and 1:00 pm. If a child is with us during this time they may play boardgames with the leaders or watch a DVD. They may not sit at the tables nor work on their kits.

Participants scheduled to attend Kraftworks during lunch time must be supplied with food and drink from home.
