We created Kraftworks as a way to bring funds into Children's Ministry. While Kraftworks serves many different purposes our primary goal remains the funding of Children's Ministry and programs that support children. To see where this money has been invested please select the Charities menu option.
Painting figurines is a fascinating pastime that allows people who do not see themselves as having any artistic talent to explore their creative side. There is a degree of modeling skill in assembling the figurines, a measure of artistic skill in painting the figurines, and a touch of overall creativity in placing the figurines within a larger scene (vignette or diorama as they are known).
There are many skills and techniques to be learned in order to paint figurines well. We teach beginners how to:
prepare the pieces of the figurine for assembly,
assemble the figurine,
undercoat the figurine,
perform basic brushwork, and
basing.
For more advanced participants we teach
blending,
drybrushing,
inking and washing,
layering,
lining-in, and
finishing.
Participants are welcome to bring their own figurines and models if they wish to work on their own projects using our equipment. We have available the entire range of Privateer Press P3 paints and inks, Wonder Wash washes, Didi's Magic Ink, and Doc O'Brien's powders. We use Reaper paint brushes and Gale Force 9 equipment.
