In the Airbrush Art activity our aim is to teach young teens how to use an airbrush. In the workshop we talk about the different ways to power an airbrush, the different kinds of airbrushes, and the different kinds of paints. We show the participants how to set up and maintain the airbrush station. We also talk about safety and responsible use of the equipment.

Once the participants have an understanding of the equipment and its proper use we move on to the more practical aspects of this artform. For beginners we cover the basics such as:

For more experienced participants we cover different styles of lettering and a wide variety of embellishments such as highlighting, edge effects, and texturing.

Aside from teaching participants how to use the equipment and how to perform a selection of the most common airbrush techniques we also talk about the process involved in creating an airbrush design on a T-Shirt. In the workshop we use a straightforward, step-by-step method that just about anyone can follow and produce surprisingly good results. So if you think that you can’t draw then spend a few sessions airbrushing with us and you might change your mind. We won’t promise that you’ll be able to draw but we will guarantee that you’ll be able to produce a good T-Shirt.

We use acrylic paints in our classes which are designed for painting fabric. By ironing a painted T-Shirt the colour becomes permanent. In the workshop we supply fabric for practicing and a white T-Shirt for the final creation.
